Following the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 Semi-Finals, Keisuke Honda of Japan and Matt Mckay of Australia joins the ranks of Ismael Matar from the UAE, Ismaeil Abdullatif from Bahrain and Park Ji Sung from Korea in being awarded Samsung “Man of the Match”. Samsung has sponsored this program in the AFC Asian Cup since 2007 as part of its philosophy and support of continuous pursuit of excellence, innovation and outstanding performance.
During the last 30 matches, many renown players have been awarded Samsung “Man of the Match”. Samsung Electronics has also been giving football fans the opportunity to get closer to the stars with its “Fan of the Match” event promotion; offering exclusive prizes. For “Fan of the Match” fans guess, via SMS, which player will be awarded “Man of the Match”, the lucky winner is given exclusive prizes; including an autographed official football by the “Man of the Match” and gets their name announced on the stadium’s giant screen. So far more than 6,000 football fans have taken part in the competition and shared their passion for sport by guessing Samsung’s “Man of the Match”.

This fun and relaxed environment features Samsung devices with the newly launched AFC 2011 Samsung mobile app providing real-time information and statistics from the Player Tracking System which is refreshed every 20 seconds. Samsung is also running competitions to see which fans cheer loudest for their team.
